Project Description:

Wolseley plc is the world's largest wholesale distributor of plumbing and heating products and a leading supplier of building materials to professional contractors in North America, the UK and Continental Europe. This $20B wholesale distribution company has embarked upon an aggressive strategic objective to double in size over the next five years through both inorganic and organic growth. To support this growth, Wolseley has partnered with Accenture and SAP to deliver a global Business Change Program. At the core of this initiative are the Supply Chain Management (SCM), program which entail the implementation of standard business processes, strategic organizational changes, and SAP as Wolseley's global ERP system.

By improving Wolseley's supply chain, Wolseley will:

·  create and source products from the most cost effective manufacturers

·  share logistics across country borders and brands through continental distribution networks

·  offer a diverse product range through a single transaction / outlet

·  consolidate back office functions within a shared services environment

·  enhance financial decision making through planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting tools

improve the ability to leverage leading practices and absorb new acquisitions faster and more efficiently.

Responsibilities:

·   Involved in gathering Business Requirements and preparation of Information template used    for identifying data elements for future reporting needs.

·   Involved in analysis of data requirements & translation of these requirements into

dimensional data models using star schema and extended star schema, with an

emphasis on actual implementation in BW.

·   Worked with the Data management group during the process of Data Analysis & Data Mapping exercise.

·   Installed and extended standard Business Content based on client requirements for enhancing Data Sources for transaction data and master data.

·   Created Info Objects, Data Sources, s, Data targets, Info Packages and

Info Providers to load Master and Transactional data from SAP R/3 system into BW system.

·   Involved in customizing LO-Cockpit extract structures and data sources in sales and distribution, and material management to facilitate the data extraction to BW and to reporting using classification of various data elements.

·   Created Info package groups to automate the data transfer when and what intervals the data to be extracted from R/3 to BW.

·   By using Open Hub Service the data, which is in Info, cube and DSO is passed to Flat files and db tables.

·   Enhanced the Communication Structures to add new fields for Purchase Orders.

·   Developed Transfer Rules to extract data from various Data Sources to transfer     structures.

·   Created Custom InfoCube for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) defined by business.

·   Created a generic structure to extract data from the custom tables.

·   Designed and created an DSO object which gets data from the generic structure.

·   Loading of third party tools data through flat files periodically as required.

·   Worked on performance tuning of Queries by creating aggregates, indexing and cube Compression.

·   Created variables restricted, calculated Key Figures for the Queries. Created Conditions, Exceptions, Structures and Variables that are used in BEx Reporting.

·   Provided help in end-user training and documentation.

·   Tuning of SQL queries for better performance.

·   Creation of different types of reports, such as; Master/Detail, Cross Tab and Chart (for trend analysis). Use of filters, conditions, calculations, etc.

·   Gathered requirements by talking with different end users in HR department across different departments

·   Developed Functional (Business terms) and Technical Design documents.

·   Worked on Universes and maintained different universes in designer.

·   Worked with database connections, SQL joins, cardinalities, loops, aliases, views, aggregate conditions,

parsing of objects and hierarchies.

·   Instrumental in fitting the Business Objects Architecture into the System.

·   Built BEx queries with Restricted Key Figures, Calculated Key Figures and Variables which would be utilized in Xcelsius dashboards.

·   Worked extensively with SAP BI functional/technical developers to design and develop the SAP BI Info cubes and multiproviders utilized in Business Objects Web Intelligence reports.

·   Implement Row Level and Object Level Restrictions to the different user groups.

·   Developed Web Intelligence Reports with varying level of complexities with respect to data retrieval (subqueries,mutilple data sources, custom SQL etc) and report formatting/layout (alerters, dynamic display of report blocks, charts etc).

·   Developed Live Office reports based on Universes and/or existing Web Intelligence Reports based on the requirements.

·   Unit testing of the real-time Dashboards and Business Objects reports by data validations by comparing data against the BEx queries using BEx Analyzer and WebI reports.

·   Designed and developed the Excel model templete using best practices to serve as base for building the

Xcelsius dashboards

·   Created linked objects in the Universe and WebI reports to enable contextual report linking (hyper linking)

between Web Intelligence reports using opendoc functionality.

·   Performed performance tuning and debugging of data issues in reports by checking the MDX statements and testing the MDX statements directly against SAP BW using transaction mda/mdx Business objects log test.

·   Created custom Audit Reports to effectively monitor and administer the User activity and Report/Universe usage.

·   Extensively involved in post-production issues and Business User training
